AWS enables Rekor to scale efficiently and securely
Rekor’s products and solutions are built on and enhanced by Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS provides Rekor with efficient and scalable cloud infrastructure services, optimal storage, bandwidth, and computational power. Additionally, Rekor trusts AWS with data because AWS boasts stringent security standards and has more compliance certifications than any other cloud provider.
Developing solutions with multiple AWS products
AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK)
Infrastructure as code is part of the core philosophy at Rekor. The AWS CDK gives Rekor developers and cloud operators the power to practice DevOps processes in order to deliver solutions faster and more consistently across multiple AWS Organization accounts and environments.
AWS Lambda
AWS Lambda's server-less compute paradigm is key at Rekor for creating multi-language, cost-effective, and highly scalable solutions for IoT, edge data message consumption and processing, API Gateway request handling, and services that use lightweight asynchronous worker models.
Amazon API Gateway
Rekor uses AWS API Gateway in several deployments to facilitate HTTP based communications across our products and services. For example, API Gateway is used to deliver highly scalable APIs for edge-level consumption, in support of Rekor's roadway video management system.
Amazon DynamoDB
Rekor utilizes Amazon DynamoDB as a low latency metadata store to support our IoT devices in the field. The use of DynamoDB provides a cost-effective solution with no management overhead.
Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR)
Rekor uses Amazon Elastic Container Registry (ECR) to manage our Docker container images. ECR allows us to scan our container images for known vulnerabilities improving our application security.
Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS)
Amazon Elastic Container Service (ECS) allows Rekor to rapidly deploy containerized applications into the cloud. ECS provides the ability for our applications to scale and meet demand for our hosted applications while providing availability and uptime across multiple Availability Zones.
Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
Amazon EKS allows Rekor to run and scale applications in a secure processing environment while reducing costs associated with efficient compute resource provisioning. The environment is kept extra secure as security patches are automatically applied.
Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK)
Amazon MSK makes it easy to ingest and process streaming data in real time. This provides the processing power needed for Rekor’s automated incident detection feature within its Roadway Monitoring and Response platform.
Amazon Route 53
Rekor employs Route 53 for both public and private DNS routing use cases across all products and internal services. Applying records for certificates, load balancers, and other targets allows Rekor to manage all inbound network traffic in a scalable, maintainable way in conjunction with the AWS CDK.
Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS)
Rekor utilizes Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS) to reliably queue incoming data for backend processing. SQS allows our applications to decouple from our application services while eliminating the overhead associated with managing middleware.
Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3)
AWS S3 is widely used at Rekor to complete many cross-functional missions. From pipeline derived artifact storing and application level raw data storage, to securely delivering content to mobile and edge-based systems; S3 provides Rekor a safe, scalable, and cost-effective solution for storing non-structured data.
